I switched to Ubuntu recently and have setup a media pc to replace my cable TV. It works real well with Hulu but I couldn't get Ubuntu to play DVDs so I had to keep using my xbox360. I was a little disappointed about the computer not playing DVDs and came back to it after talking to Josh about making backup copies of the DVDs I own.

It turns out that Ubuntu doesn't install the CSS decryption key by default. I am glad it only took a month to be annoyed enough to look this up at the Ubuntu forums. So last night I made my first DVD backup, thanks Josh!

The solution:

sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh
